Today we're in Dallas, TX for our Turnkey Transformation of the week! This 3 bedroom, 2 bath home is dark and damaged and in need of quite a few repairs. Not only did we put on a new roof, we replaced any rotten wood in the home as well as built a new wooden fence. One of the biggest issues with this Dallas home was the rotten wood on the exterior of the property. Sometimes rotting wood can spread and lie unnoticed in your home for long periods of time, only revealing itself when it's too late. The best way to prevent wood rot in the future is to maintain your gutters and keep them clear for rainwater. And also for good measure, you should add covered entrances to your exterior doors and make sure that your home is well ventilated so you're not trapping moisture.
In addition to the rotten wood and roof, there were ceilings falling in, outdated tile and wood paneling, and wallpaper. With all of these repairs, it took 151 days for our team to complete the projects for this property. A neglected property like this means there's a lot of work to be done to get the house fixed and to our standards, but we did it with a $55,000 budget.
