Self Directed IRA Investing | Memphis Real Estate Makes Sense!

Wed, Dec 15, 2010

Self Directed Real Estate InvestingI talk to real estate investors every single week who are interested in investing in Memphis real estate with MemphisInvest.com for a lot of different reasons.  Some of the most interesting investors I talk to though, are those who are highly diversified in other markets.  They own stock portfolios or invest in Bonds and Mutual Funds.  They have spent years with financial planners preparing for a day that now seems in jeopardy:  Retirement!  Most of these investors are turning to a tool that their "advisors" failed to teach them about - Self Directed Retirement Accounts.  With the right real estate investments at all time values, the focus to investing in real estate with your retirement account could not have come at a better time.

Many remember the euphoric state of their investment account in October of 2007. Their accounts were at all time highs as the stock market and other investment opportunities were carrying their retirement dreams closer and closer.  Today, many of these same investors have lost half of their retirement and are tired of lack of creativity or even certainty that their advisors once spoke of.

Before talking with MemphisInvest.com, most do not really believe that their stock portfolios have a reasonable chance of returning to the highs of 2007.  Many would simply like to stop the hemorrhaging and bring some level of consistency to their investment accounts.

While I am no expert on the stock market, I can tell you that their are housing markets around the country with Memphis quite possibly being the leader, that are poised to do very well in the near and distant future for investors who make sound investment decisions today.  This is why so many investors are choosing to redirect their portfolios from traditional stock brokerages and into specialized custodians like Equity Trust Company.  These custodians do not invest your money for you, they simply give you a vehicle to invest your own money, how you see fit, without losing the benefits of a 401K or an IRA.

I am always surprised to hear people say they are more comfortable waiting for the market to come back than taking a different action and investing in a stable calculated real estate investment.  I'm reminded of the saying that "Insanity is defined by doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result".

As investors, we have no control over the decisions our government and leaders will make which absolutely have an effect on the stock market and the growth or loss in those accounts.  Most of us are never really comfortable that our leaders are going to make the decisions that will spur the type of growth needed for our retirement accounts to bounce back.  Most investors know that we cannot rely on the stock market to bring our retirement back into focus.

With Self Directed Retirement Accounts, you can control your retirement future and invest in what you know best.  I would encourage any readers who have not already looked into purchasing real estate with a retirement account, to take advantage of the opportunity to invest with a self-directed retirement plan and learn how you can take back control of your future.
