2016 was a good year for real estate. In fact, a recent National Association for Realtors report showed that it was the best year in a decade for existing home sales, with 5.45 million homes sold—not including new construction.

With strong numbers through the end of the year and into January, real estate professionals were hopeful going into 2017. But what can we realistically expect this year?

Out of all the ways to prepare for your financial future, investing in real estate has grown increasingly in popularity over the past few decades. There are compelling reasons for that. For one, real estate investment offers flexibility that other types of investments, like stocks and bonds, just don’t. You direct the course of your real estate investments yourself—choosing what properties to buy, where to buy them, how and when to scale, what types of properties to choose, how to leverage capital, and more.

With Turnkey Real Estate investing gaining in popularity as investor realize there is a way to be passive and invest in long-term buy & hold at the same time, real estate as an option has grown even more.  Passive options like investing in turnkey properties have attracted many investors, both experienced and inexperienced, both flush with resources and just starting out.  The one thing in common among passive investors is that they know they do not have the time to devote to learning how to actively learn real estate.

Every real estate investor starts in pretty much the same place: feeling more than a little nervous, with a vague ‘in theory’ idea of what they’re doing, and with a lot of work ahead of them.

The seasons play a huge role in ebb and flow of the real estate market. It varies depending on where you are in the country, but it’s still true wherever you go: the seasons mean business.

For the most part, we see that spring and summer are the busiest times for the real estate market, with a flurry of activity as buyers buy and sellers sell.

That said, fall and winter are far from dead months, and come with their own pros. Winter sellers usually mean business: they’re usually motivated, and investors can take advantage of a lack of competition.

But we’re here to talk about summertime...

New investors have a lot on their shoulders—a mixture of hopes and dreams for a bright financial future with some anxieties that it might not work out quite like they’ve built it up in their minds.

Some real estate investors find themselves feeling nervous at the idea of buying a piece of property that they’ve never seen before.  The Clothier family had to get over this same fear in the early 2000's when several family members were building portfolios sight unseen.  

Kent Clothier, Sr. the CEO of Memphis Invest was the out-of-town real estate investors' early advocate by recognizing the risks investors would have and building a team and systems to address those risks.  Investors' minds after-all and the horror stories of buying out-of-state were the biggest hurdle to work at over-coming.
