Over the past few months, we have heard over and over again that the world is changing. That there will be a “new normal” that we will all have to adjust to. And it’s true — the world is changing and in some ways that we can’t predict. For our part, our attention has been firmly on how to best serve and communicate with our residents and investors. Taking care of them has always been our top priority. It has only become more important in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis.

For passive real estate investors, there are some big decisions that have to be made at the beginning of your investing career. Yes, you have to think about where to invest. After all, there are so many different strategies available when it comes to real estate investment. Even within a buy and hold model, there are different types of properties to invest in and sub-strategies to consider: like turnkey real estate.

If you’ve been in the throes of financial thought for any amount of time, you’ve more than likely come across the FIRE movement. If you aren’t familiar, FIRE is an acronym that stands for Financial Independence, Retire Early.

The temptation in passive real estate investment is to switch to “autopilot” and check out mentally. We're sold an idea of a “hands-off” investment. While this can be true, successful investors don't leave their entire investing future to the powers that be.

Every year I try to put together a list of books that I enjoyed reading the previous year. If you have read my lists in the past, you know that I often list books that I read over and over again because they are that impactful!

This year, I wanted to share the books that had really impacted my thought processes and even inspired me to take action.  As usual, not all of these are real estate books nor are they all investing books.  I strongly believe that in order to succeed, you have to surround yourself with the right people, the right resources, and the right attitude and these books are a great place to get started!
