On Tuesday night, January 4th, Marq Cobb who leads the sales floor at MemphisInvest.com, held a quick 45 minute Webinar recapping three great success stories from investors in 2010.  Each defined success in their own way and each took advantage of the services provided by our years of experience in the Memphis investment real estate market.  The stories shared were simply inspiring!

Buying rental properties can be a tricky proposition and being a new investor makes it even tougher. Over the past 10+ years, we've grown from a handful of employees to an 88 member team in 5 markets (Memphis, Little Rock, Oklahoma City, Dallas and Houston) and we pride ourselves on being the best at what we do! And we got here by following a lot of the tips I'm sharing with you today in this video. We've heard from so many people that have learned the hard way, and we want nothing more than to help others reach their investment goals by avoiding these common mistakes.

This is a re-print from a post I made over a year ago.  I think its always good for Memphis real estate investors to get a refresher on the questions they should ask before buying investment properties.

I am a big believer in keeping yourself up to date with the latest news from the real estate world.  I have been reading the DSNews everyday and I have begun to link to articles form the site and even re-print when I think they are news worthy to real estate investing in Memphis.  This article definitely defines one reason we are having so much trouble getting a housing recovery to take hold and gain traction.

I was reading a blog today from Eric Barnes of "The Daily News" about Memphis, and in the blog he talks about how tirelessly Mayor Wharton is working both behind the scenes and out in front to promote the city of Memphis.  At times, it seems like he is working as hard to promote Memphis to the outside world as well as to the Memphians themselves!  I don't think we know yet how lucky we are to have Mayor Wharton in office.

In case you missed it, Smart Money magazine wrote an article at the end of last year talking about what we at Memphis Invest had mentioned about the Memphis real estate investment market back in September.

I found a great article from RISMEDIA on line detailing how the tax credits work and thought I would share it with everyone while also giving my take on how the tax credit can help investors.  I have been asked several times over the last couple of weeks if the tax credits would help with the Memphis investment real estate market.  I think it can if investors are smart with how they try to utilize it.  Whether selling an existing property to a tenant or purchasing a new property for fix n flip, investors need to be realistic with how much play they will actually get from the program.
