Can you believe we’re already in the home stretch of 2017? The year flew by for many of us. The world of real estate is a whirlwind. We’ve seen a lot in the past year—but where have we landed? As we head towards the holidays and a new year, it’s time to stop and assess where we are as real estate investors, a national real estate market, and where we want to be for the future.

New to passive real estate investment? You’ve probably realized that it’s quite a bit different from other forms of investing. You’re not expected to be an expert. You’re not making this your full-time or even a part-time job. As a real estate investor, you likely just want real estate investment to be an avenue to earn passive income to help secure a solid financial future.

When we’re taught about real estate investment strategies, especially as they relate to single-family properties, it is drilled into us that we have to buy below market value if we want to see good returns.  The problem with that statement is that each real estate market is unique and there are always different strategies that different investors employ at different times.  So, one statement, that while on the surface looks like great advice, may not always make sense for each investor.

Take one look at Google and you’ll see that there’s content for days on real estate investment. Anyone looking to learn has a wealth of resources at their fingertips. The problem, naturally, is that it can be information overload!

As real estate investors, we all want our properties to stay in tip-top condition. After all, a rental property in good condition means it shows better, retains and accumulates better value, and better satisfies our residents. When we’re not actively working to improve the condition of our investment properties, we certainly don’t want them to be damaged.

We’ve all heard people say “a home is an investment.” When they say this, they’re usually referring to hopes of appreciation that, years down the line, may pay off when they retire or downsize.

Embarking on a new adventure can be intimidating. A new job, a new chapter of life, and yes—even a new investment opportunity.

When there’s a barrier of experience and education, we often find ourselves feeling anxious and out of our element.

Here’s the good news: jumping into real estate investment doesn’t have to be overwhelming or difficult. For passive real estate investors, there’s great opportunity in turnkey real estate: if you’re dealing with the right provider.

Some days, investing in real estate can give you a real headache. Maybe you’ve been doing this thing on your own. You that one resident is driving you crazy. Or maybe you’ve been up late, worried sick about that one property that just isn’t turning a profit, and you’re sick of seeing red month after month. Or those property renovations that were supposed to be finished in three weeks are still going after three months.

It’s no surprise, but we love real estate investment. Specifically, turnkey real estate investment. Yes, we like to be realistic about the challenges that can come with this business, but make no mistake—it’s our passion.

We’ve been in this business for a long time, and despite all the many challenges and struggles that come with the industry, we can’t help but be head-over-heels for turnkey real estate. Why? We’ll tell you.

More and more, we’re growing increasingly uncertain about the future. We don’t live in a world where people stay in the same careers for 30, 40 years.

We don’t live in the same cities. Change is a part of life, and there’s a certain level of excitement—and anxiety—that comes about with that.

The younger generation—and not so young, as older millennials are well into their 30’s—are struggling to find where their financial security rests.
